KZN Cycling would like to thank everyone from around the country that joined us this weekend for the SA Junior Road and Time Trial Championship.
I believe that the event went off successfully and I trust that you enjoyed your time with us. To all the riders, I hope that you enjoyed the racing and thank you for entertaining us with your talents. To all the newly crowned SA Champions, well done and we look forward to you sporting the jerseys you so richly deserved.
The time Trial most certainly was a challenge in regards to the trucks on the road. This was not foreseen and has never before been a factor. The organizing committee most certainly where not aware of a new sand mining operation that is now using this route as an access.
They arrange with all of the farmers in the area beforehand not to use this route for deliveries on the day of the time trial, for the reason of safety. So apologies to all for this and a massive thank you to the hard working marshals and officials, the traffic was well controlled.
The road race yesterday was a great event. Being able to have an event on a dual lane highway with complete road closure is an absolute privilege.
I would like to thank Cycling SA for their support leading up to and during the event. A huge gratitude of thanks is owed to the KZN Department of Sports and Recreation for their support of Cycling in KZN, specifically of our program to grow cycling as a sport across all communities and demographics. Thank you also to CMH Nissan Durban for the loan of all officials cars.
Finally, I would like to thank Kelvin and his team for the great work they have done putting this event together. The physical result of what we see on race day is nothing compared to the days and weeks of planning, negotiating with the authorities, municipalities, obtaining all the road permissions, working with sponsors and the like.
To be afforded the privilege to close down a highway comes with a level of trust, but whole lot of years of credibility and reputation. You personally took on the role of controlling the traffic on Saturday, ensuring that the situation was managed by the most experienced person you had available. Yourself.
Thank you to all who attended and made the event a success.

Regards
Greg Stedman
